  • Saturday, August 19, 2017

Gordon Ramsey Taylor, 94, passed away on August 15, 2017.

Gordon was born in Cincinnati, OH to medical missionaries on furlough from India in 1922. They returned the next year. The family traveled to remote villages providing medical care and evangelizing. Gordon spent seven years in the U.S. attending college and seminary and returned the year of India’s independence and partition. He did relief work during the riots. Afterwards, he produced Indian Christian radio programs, planted churches, and co-founded Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Dehradun, India. Gordon also served the leper community, especially through the Bhogpur Children’s Home, a place where families could commit their children to growing up free of leprosy and its stigma.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth and sister, Gladys, four children, 16 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, besides hundreds of children “adopted” through his ministry.

A memorial service will be held at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 3 p.m.

Arrangements are by Wann Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 4000 Tennessee Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37409, 423 821-7551.
