The Covenant women's soccer team concluded the regular season with a 4-0 victory at Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon in USA South action.

Covenant (9-7-1, 6-2 USA South) will be the No. 3 seed from the West Division when the USA South Tournament begins next week. The Lady Scots will host a first round match on Wednesday and face either Agnes Scott or LaGrange.
The time and opponent will be announced early next week.

On Saturday, Abby Gienapp scored the eventual game-winner in the first half and Kyra Duble scored twice in the second half to lead Covenant to its sixth shutout victory of the season.

Gienapp scored her first goal of the season in the 26th minute when she collected a pass from Paige Simons and found the back of the net to give the Lady Scots a 1-0 edge. In the 35th minute, it was Simons' turn as she scored her third goal of the year to extend the Covenant lead to 2-0.

In the second half, it was Duble that put the match out of reach. The sophomore scored in the 55th minute, assisted by Lizzy Hightower, and then added another goal in the 56th minute, assisted by Kailey Burrell, to make it 4-0.

The goals were Duble's fourth and fifth of the year. It was also her first career two-goal match.

That was more than enough for the Covenant defense and keeper Rachel Lemay to preserve the shutout win. Lemay made two saves on the afternoon to collect her ninth victory and sixth clean sheet.

Covenant outshot Wesleyan 33-4 on the afternoon, led by Gienapp, Duble, Simons, Burrell, and Hightower who took four shots each.

Wesleyan (2-15-1, 0-8 USA South) keeper Carlee Dykes made 13 saves in the loss.

Covenant will host a USA South Tournament first round match on Wednesday, Oct. 24 against the No. 6 seed from the West. Match time and opponent will be announced after the conference regular season concludes on Monday.
