It is puzzling to me how a non-profit, so-called advocacy group is able to support school board candidates.
I agree that Joe Smith is the best candidate for District 3. Joe is running for school board for the first time after having been appointed to fill the seat when it was vacated a couple of years ago.
There are very few advocates for young people in this county that could match the efforts of Joe Smith, not even UnifiEd.
Instead of holding meetings and issuing press releases, Joe has devoted himself to actually helping improve the lives of young men who otherwise would have been lost in the system. I’m sure we couldn’t count the number he has helped.
Joe is who we need on the school board at this critical time - a man of wisdom and years of experience working with young people.
I don’t live in District 3 as someone pointed out a couple of years ago. What that young man lacked was the understanding that the decisions and votes Joe makes affect the lives of all students and citizens of Hamilton County. My grandchildren are students in this system and what affects them affects me directly. So I want the best people on the job and I know I am qualified after a 40-year career in education to know who that is.
I hope all of the good folks of District 3 who knew me and trusted my judgement when I was principal of the Ganns Middle Valley School will vote for Joe Smith for school board in August. And thank you Roy for revealing what most people didn’t know.
