Robert “Bob” L. Davis, Jr., 77, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away at Erlanger Medical Center on Thursday, September 10, 2020.

 

Bob was born in Rossville, Ga., on May 20, 1943.  He was a proud Rossville Bulldog, graduating in 1961.  He loved his football teammates and was a part of two championship teams in 1959 and 1960.  He graduated from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1974.  Bob enjoyed a 30-year career at Provident Life & Accident, then started The Davis Company, a successful life insurance brokerage operation over the last 23 years.  He was a member of Council Fire Golf Club and The Honors Course.  He also had wonderful friends at the Elks Club.  Bob was president of many civic organizations in Rossville and Chattanooga, such as the Exchange Club and the Classic 150. One of his proudest accomplishments was being a founding member of the Rossville Sports Hall of Fame Committee, where he served as president for many years.  Bob was blessed with the love of a great family and many wonderful friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Louin Sr. and Margaret A. (Cook) Davis.

 

Bob is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carol, Chattanooga; children, Robert “Bo” L. Davis III and his wife Ruth of Southern Pines, N.C., and Beth Davis Stefanko and her husband Mike of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren, Rob Davis (IV), Riley Davis, Logan Stefanko, and Garrett Stefanko.

 

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend David Hall and Reverend Debbie Stokes officiating.

Per the current health situation and the mandate of the Hamilton County Mayor, visitors must adhere to all CDC guidelines, including social distancing and the wearing of facial coverings for visitation and services.

 

The family will receive friends from 10-12 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tn.
