America’s largest annual tree-planting event takes place this weekend across Tennessee. Organized by the non-profit Tennessee Environmental Council, the 10th Annual Tennessee Tree Day features nearly 8,000 planting locations, and will involve 20,000 volunteers in planting some 100,000 native trees across our state. The statewide tree-planting effort spearheaded by TEC reached an important milestone this year, as it recently planted its ceremonial one-millionth tree since 2007.
“We encourage everyone to plant something native this weekend – a tree, a shrub or a native pollinator habitat,” said Jeffrey Barrie, CEO of Tennessee Environmental Council.
“It will be perfect weather for doing something positive for Tennessee’s environment and communities.”
