George David Mason
George David Mason, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, went to his heavenly home on April 5, 2024, at the age of 88, surrounded by his family. He faithfully attended Lupton Drive Baptist Church to worship our Lord and Savior.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mart and Rosine Mason and two brothers, Bob (Ellen) Mason and Gene Mason.
David is survived by his beautiful wife of 63 years, Martha Mason; children, Rhonda (Bobby) Yarbrough of Soddy Daisy, Michael (Sonja) Mason of Hixson, Marti (Sean) Higdon of Ringgold; grandchildren, Amber Scroggins, Dustin Mason, Rachel Thomas, and Payton Higdon; great-grandchildren; Victoria and Olivia Scroggins, Hayden and Hannah Mason, Georgina and Hardy Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
David was born in Athens on Jan. 6, 1936. He graduated from Central High School and retired from the United States Post Office with 33 years of service.
David was a devoted husband and father and was a true TN Vols fan. His hobbies were wood-crafting, watching John Wayne movies, and mall walking. He enjoyed coaching his children’s baseball/softball teams, working in the yard, and most of all devoting his life to the Lord.
He will be deeply missed but we are assured to see him again one day.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 12, in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Bell and Brother Roger DeHart officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, with Dustin Mason, Tommy Frizzell, Marty Frizzell, Monty Bishop, Ronald Rooks, and Terry Burrows serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
