Patricia Combs Medearis, 81, of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on April 7, 2024.

She was born Oct. 27, 1942, in Patterson, N.J. to the late William and Katherine Combs. She was a graduate of Central High School. She was employed with the Chattanooga Times for over 30 years and retired as an administrative assistant to the editor and publisher. She then went on to UTC as an administrative assistant to the Athletics Director and retired after many years of dedicated service. She was a devoted member and attended First Baptist Church Fort Oglethorpe for many years. She served on several committees and volunteered for many church functions.

Patricia was an avid UT Volunteers fan as well as Chattanooga Mocs and especially her beloved Atlanta Braves. She particularly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her church family. She brought a smile to all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her aforementioned parents, a sister, Brenda Newport.

Left behind to cherish Pat’s memory are her sister, Wilma Burt, her nieces, Shannon (Danny) Wilson, Stacey Allen, Tina (Bryan) Malone, nephew, Randy (Ann) Burt, several great nieces and nephews, and one great-great nephew, numerous cousins and many dear friends.

A Celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Friday, April 12, at 5 p.m. in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Jason Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 3 p.m. She’ll be laid to rest in the Lakewood Memory Gardens South.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Pat’s memory can be made to either St. Jude Childrens Hospital, or to her Sunday school class at First Baptist Church Ft. Oglethorpe, the Miriam Class.
