Students of Lee University’s Phi Beta Lambda national business society are providing financial counseling in conjunction with Lee’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program on Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 9, from 6-8 p.m.

Junior and senior Phi Beta Lambda students will be available to provide assistance with basic personal budgeting and financial planning for individuals and families.

“We are really excited to provide a service to the community that is intended to help families reach their financial goals,” said Brittany Sloan, Phi Beta Lambda’s special projects coordinator.

This is the first year that financial counseling is being provided, while Lee’s VITA program is now in its eighth year. VITA provides free tax return preparation services for any qualified individuals or families whose maximum gross annual income does not exceed $50,000.

Spanish translators will be available on-site Thursday evenings to facilitate communication. Returns are filed electronically to the Internal Revenue Service.

Both services are being provided in the Walker Memorial Building. To schedule an appointment, call the Lee VITA site at 473-1160 or email VITA@LeeUniversity.edu. Walk-ins are welcome if space permits.
