McCallie Hosts Mid-South Track Invitational Saturday

  • Thursday, April 16, 2015
McCallie School will host the Mid-South Track Invitational Saturday at Spears Stadium and Belk Track. The action begins at 9 a.m.

Seventeen teams from Alabama and Tennessee will travel to Chattanooga to compete in the meet.

“We have a super group of sprinters with Myles Patton, JJ Lewis and Alex Trotter leading the way,” Head Coach Mike Wood says. “We have a good group of throwers, and our distance crew is always strong and is led by State Cross Country Champion Dylan Carmack.”

In recent meets, the McCallie team has shown its depth and talent.
In late March, at the Fast Break Open in Chattanooga, the squad collected six first-place finishes in field events and one relay team title to claim the meet title.

Victories in the pole vault (Jack Baird), high jump (Jay Romer), long jump (Nygel Edmonds), triple jump (Romeo Gibbs), discus (Jay Roberts) and shot put (Trel Phillips) propelled the Blue Tornado to 404 team points.

Tuesday of this week, McCallie held a dual meet with Signal Mountain. Alex Clark cleared 6-2 in the high jump, and Pete Pritchard won the pole vault (11-6) and the 100 meters (11.64). Nelson Eiselstein set a personal best in the 1600 (4:51), Kevin Wagoner won the 3200 in 10:38, and Jay Roberts swept both the shot put and the discus.

Teams scheduled to compete at the Mid-South include: Baylor, Brainerd, Brentwood Academy, Central, Central Magnet, Chattanooga Christian, Cookeville, Farragut, Fort Payne, Memphis University School, Middle Tennessee Christian, Notre Dame, Rhea County, Signal Mountain, Soddy Daisy and Tyner Academy.
