--The Women’s Golf Coaches Association released its All-Scholar Team GPA Award Wednesday and per usual, the Chattanooga Mocs’ ladies figured prominently among the smartest teams in the nation. The squad ties for eighth overall and fifth among NCAA Division I programs.

“We take great pride in all of our achievements – in and out of competition,” Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics David Blackburn shared. “Our women’s golf team continues to excel both on the course and in the classroom.

“I’m very proud of Colette Murray and her ladies in the way they represent our department and university.”

Chattanooga tied for eighth in the nation with Baylor posting a 3.776 GPA.
That was also fifth among NCAA DI programs behind Illinois State (3.862), New Mexico (3.809), Duke (3.808) and Denver (3.790). Lindenwood had the top number at 3.901.

Megan Woods and Isabella Loza each turned in perfect 4.0s for 2015-16. They joined Emily McLennan and Monica San Juan as WGCA All-American Scholars.

As a team, the squad claimed two wins during the campaign. Individually, McLennan won two events, while Woods won her first becoming the fifth Moc in the last six years to capture medalist honors in the Southern Conference Championships.
