The Dalton Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that happened on Wednesday night, in northern Dalton. Two men armed with guns approached the victims in the driveway of their home as they were unloading bags. The men escaped with jewelry and other items. Noone was hurt in the incident.
The incident happened just after 8 p.m. at a house on Chatham Drive. The victims were just returning from a shopping trip to Atlanta and were unloading their bags. As one of the victims stood near her car, two black men wearing dark colored hooded sweatshirts approached her quickly by running up the driveway.
Both men were armed with handguns. The men cornered the victim and began grabbing at her jewelry and demanding that she give them items. She told police that she screamed, and when she did her mother and husband came around the side of the car to see what was happening. The suspects pointed guns at them.
The victim’s husband ran back to the house to try to retrieve a weapon. The suspects fled down the driveway, stealing jewelry and a large duffel bag. The suspects got into two passenger cars, a white-colored late model Chevrolet Impala and a silver colored Nissan Maxima and fled.
Dalton detectives were able to retrieve surveillance video from the home. This incident is under investigation and anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Detective John Edwards at 706 278-9085, ext. 9152.
