Douglas Delano Richesin, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his residence Sunday, August 19, 2018 surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel C. and Candie Kimsey Richesin.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Jo Calhoun Richesin; four daughters, Jennifer and Rodney Wells, Marcia and Phillip Poore, Dawn and Keith Bright and Bridgett and Aaron Officer; seven grandchildren, Ashley Davis, Mitchell Poore, Sarah and Ahmed Elkassabani, Ryan Douglas Bright, Hannah Bright, Noah Officer and Grayson Officer; five great-grandchildren, Hunter and Abby Newport, Jackie Newport, Marlee Carringer, Daphne Poore and Ameera Elkassabani. Doug is also survived by three sisters and a brother, Virginia Gregory, Charlene Wade, Marlene Davis, and Wayne and Linda Richesin and several nieces and nephews whom he loved truly.
Doug served his country in the Army and after his enlistment went to work for Thomas & Betts until his retirement. After retirement he enjoyed driving trucks for several years and was a well-known local truck driver.
Anyone who ever met Doug would not forget how he always could make your laugh with a good story or joke. His infectious personality was truly a gift along with the love he had for his family. Some of his favorite times out and were to watch his grandchildren play the respective sports, fishing or watching his sporting events including his favorite, NASCAR.
The family wishes to say a special ‘thank you’ to Hospice of Chattanooga for their loving care and thoughtfulness. Also to Dr. Farrukh, Dr.Mills and Dr. Robert Marcum and their staff for all their help to the family through his difficult time. And also all of Doug’s special friends.
