Mary Elizabeth Simmons McCulley, 86, of Hixson died on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.

She truly loved all of her family and she will forever be missed.

Mrs. McCulley was born at home in Pikeville to the late Carl and Mary Lee Simmons. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mary Lee Simmons, sisters, Carolyn Moore, husband Bob McCulley and daughter Brenda Howard.

Mrs. McCulley retired from DuPont after a long career as an operator.  She was an active member of Daisy United Methodist Church. She was an avid lover of flowers, gardening, her family and her pets. She loved spending time outside tending to her flowerbeds. She also enjoyed going on trips with her daughter Brenda and gardening with her son Barry. Elizabeth was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandma who enjoyed spending time with her family and was always selflessly doing for others.  She played high school basketball and was a huge Lady Vol basketball fan.

Survivors include her son, Barry McCulley; granddaughter, Krystye Dalton; great-grandson, David James Dalton; sisters, Dorothy Holloway, Imogene Roberson, and Virginia Mickel; brothers, Ed Simmons, Sam Simmons, and Steve Simmons; and many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside will be held on Thursday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
