For over 30 years, Sue dedicated herself to shaping young minds as a revered school teacher at Brainard and Hixson High Schools. Her passion for education was matched only by her exceptional leadership. Sue served as President of the Chattanooga Education Association and was honored with the title of "Teacher of the Year" three times—a record achievement that stands unparalleled. Her commitment extended beyond the classroom as she represented Tennessee with distinction for the Administrative Management Society, an esteemed organization of top business leaders.

Sue earned her bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University and her master’s degree from the University of Tennessee. Her educational background and unwavering dedication were instrumental in her success. She also worked alongside Ted at Smartt Cabinets, where her enthusiasm and work ethic continued to shine.

Sue had a rare gift for lighting up a room and making everyone feel welcome and valued. Her humor and radiant smile were hallmarks of her personality, endearing her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her love for her students, family, and friends was fierce and unwavering.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Sue was a staunch supporter of the military and had a deep passion for college football and Tennessee women’s college basketball. Her spirit of generosity and joy left an indelible mark on her community.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Hearth Hospice for their exceptional care and kindness during Sue’s final days. Their compassion and professionalism were deeply appreciated and made a profound difference.
