Wanda Presswood Newman
Wanda Presswood Newman, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Palm Sunday, April 10, 2022.
Wanda was born in Isabella, Tn., to the late Charlie and Maude Lee Arp Presswood. She grew up in Ducktown, Tn., and graduated Ducktown High School. She resided on Signal Mountain for over 55 years and is a member of The Point Church at Signal. Wanda was loved by her many friends and family. Her love of gardening is reflected in one of the prettiest yards on Signal Mountain and she loved sharing her gardening knowledge with others.
One of Wanda’s passions was her love of being a Fontana Dam Kid and attending the Dam Kid Reunion every year. This group consists of children whose parents built TVA Fontana Dam during World War II. Her love of Bluegrass music took her on the road to Bluegrass festivals in the region. Wanda retired from Siskin Steel and worked throughout the years for Blood Assurance, Standard Iron, Eclipse Lookout, and The Knoxville News Sentinel.
She was preceded in death by her son, Edsel E. Newman, parents, Charlie and Maude Lee Arp Presswood, sisters, Vivan Lane, Sue Buttram, and brother, James Presswood.
She is survived by her grandson, Christopher Newman and several nieces, nephew, great nieces and nephew.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 30, at 12 p.m., at The Point Church at Signal on Signal Mountain.
