Bradford, Wesley "Sonny" Drennon (New Salem)

Wesley “Sonny” Drennon Bradford, 79, of New Salem, passed away at home on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Funeral services with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21 at the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home, with Brother Jim Blaylock officiating. He will be laid to rest in Hawkins Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the service hour.

Sonny was born Dec. 26, 1943 to the late Floyd and Thelma Mae Massey Bradford. He served our country in the United States Army and was named "Athlete of the Year" 1967 from the 1st Battalion, 1st Infantry at West Point Military Academy. Sonny was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. Most of all, Sonny loved his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who had the honor to know him.

Left to treasure his memories include his wife of 54 years, Sandra Martin Bradford; children, Wesley (Lacie) Bradford and Megan Bradford; grandchildren, Drennon and Mattie Bradford; sisters, Melba (Jerry) Bryan and Janie Joiner; and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by siblings, Vivian Hodnett, Marvin “Bud” Bradford and Ione “Tootsie” Logan.
