Chattanooga Lady Red Wolves star midfielder Sinoxolo “Sino” Cesane has been called up to represent the South African Women’s National Team for two friendly matches against the United States. Sino has previously represented her national team on the U17 and U20 teams. Sino will join her sister Noxolo at national team camp who plays for Tigres UANL in Mexico.
Sino has been with the Chattanooga Lady Red Wolves for three seasons and has been a big contributor to their overall record. Sino appeared in 12 matches for the team during the 2023 season, picking up five goals and one assist in team wins against SC United Bantams, Southern Soccer Academy, and Birmingham Legion WFC. Sino was also a part of the WPSL Southeastern Conference squad that took home the championship in 2021.
“We are really excited for Sino to represent her country,” said Lady Red Wolves assistant coach Katie Phillips. “It is a huge honor, and we are very proud of her. Sino has been a vital part of our women’s first team the last three years, and we are excited to see her showcase her talents on the field in South Africa’s upcoming fixtures,” added Phillips.
Sino is also a junior at East Tennessee State University (ETSU). In her freshman year with the Bucs, Sino earned SoCon All-Freshman Team selection. In the fall of 2021, Sino started in all 16 matches and started 13 matches for the fall 2022 season. In her current season with ETSU, Sino has received Offensive Player of the Week and scored 3 goals in 2 matches for the Bucs.
