Erlanger is collaborating with the Look Good Feel Better Foundation to host a local workshop on Monday from noon-2 p.m. at the Erlanger Cancer Center. This free event is open to all women currently undergoing cancer treatments, and offers support for managing treatment-related side effects and appearance changes. Erlanger is the only cancer center in the region currently offering this service, officials said.
Volunteer cosmetologists and aestheticians will be in attendance to lead in-person workshops, including education for skin, nailcare and makeup application.
There will also be tutorials for wig, scarves, turban and hat selection and care.
“The workshop will provide women with two hours to be alongside other women experiencing the same effects of cancer treatments,” said Janet Kramer-Mai, director of Oncology. “Beauty professionals will be offering tips so the patients can look and feel good about themselves.”
The event will take place in the Erlanger Oncology conference room, on the ground floor of the medical mall. Attendees will receive free gifts, light refreshments and access to continuing online resources. Complimentary valet parking will also be available.
“This workshop is just another aspect of taking care of the entire patient as they battle the side effects caused by their treatment,” added Ms. Kramer-Mai.
The event is organized by a collaborative effort between Erlanger, the Look Good Feel Better Foundation and the Professional Beauty Association. Additional workshops will also be occurring at Erlanger on Oct. 14, and Nov. 11 from noon-2 p.m. Space is limited. To register for these events, visit lookgoodfeelbetter.org/workshop-registration.
