11th American Heroes Dinner Set For July 11

  • Thursday, February 13, 2025
Honoring the Sacrifice Foundation will celebrate the 11th American Heroes Dinner on Friday, July 11. The American Heroes Dinner, which celebrates the service and sacrifice of our military heroes, is held annually at the Chattanooga Convention Center and is a signature event in Chattanooga. Retired United States Marine Johnny "Joey" Jones will participate as the keynote speaker.

During Staff Sergeant (Ret.) Jones eight years of service, he worked as an explosive ordnance disposal technician, deploying to both Iraq and Afghanistan.
During his last deployment to Afghanistan, his team destroyed nearly 80 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), along with thousands of pounds of other bulk explosives. It was during that tour on Aug. 6, 2010 when he stepped on and initiated an IED, resulting in the loss of both of his legs and severe damage to his forearm and wrists.

Combat-wounded Staff SGT Jones turned a traumatic disability into a personal mission to share the life-changing perspective and gratitude he found in his recovery. He is an in-demand contributor across all FOX News Media platforms. The New York Times best-selling author is a rotating host for several hit shows, including the Fox and Friends franchise.

This event serves as a fundraiser for the Honoring the Sacrifice Foundation, which was formed in 2013 when Chattanooga native, SGT Andrew Smith (U.S. Army Retired) returned from almost two years at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. While on his first patrol in Afghanistan in 2012, he stepped on a pressure-plate improvised explosive device.

Officials said, "The Honoring the Sacrifice Foundation is committed to assisting catastrophically wounded veterans and their families. Your participation helps us fulfill our mission of ensuring those who paid an extreme price for protecting our liberty and freedom will continue to thrive post-injury."
