Street Closings Announced For USA Cycling Professional National Championships

The USA Cycling Professional National Championships event over Memorial Day Weekend, May 24-26, will have the following closures.
 

Friday, from 6 p.m. until Saturday, at 6 p.m.: Volkswagen Drive will be closed between Discovery Drive and the roundabout to Enterprise South Nature Park for the USA Cycling Time Trials setup.

Saturday, from 7 a.m.-6 p.m.: Hickory Valley Road between Hwy 58 and Bonny Oaks Drive and Discovery Drive between Hickory Valley Road and Volkswagen Drive will be closed for the USA Cycling Time Trials.

Sunday, from 5 a.m. until Monday, at 11:30 p.m.: M.L. King Boulevard between Broad Street and Georgia Avenue, Market Street between East 8th Street and East 10th Street, and Cherry Street between East 8th Street and M.L. King Boulevard will be closed for USA Cycling Road Race setup.  On-street parking will be prohibited on these streets from Saturday at 6 p.m. until Monday, at 6 p.m.

Monday, from 5 a.m.-11:30 p.m.: The following roads will be closed for the USA Cycling Road Race and there will be limited crossing points. Frazier Avenue: Market Street to Barton Avenue, Woodland Avenue: East Manning Street to Frazier Avenue, Forest Avenue: East Manning Street to Frazier Avenue, East Kent Street: Market Street to Forest Avenue, Market Street: Frazier Avenue to West 12th Street, Georgia Avenue: Veterans Bridge to Vine Street, Vine Street: Georgia Avenue to Palmetto Street, East 5th Street: East 4th Street to Palmetto Street, McCallie Avenue: Palmetto Street to Georgia Avenue, Palmetto Street: East 5th Street to McCallie Avenue, Douglas Street: McCallie Avenue to East 5th Street, 7th Street: Broad Street to Georgia Avenue, Broad Street: 7th Street to Cummings Highway, West 12th Street: Broad Street to Market Street, St. Elmo Avenue: Broad Street to Ochs Highway, Ochs Highway: St Elmo Avenue to Ochs Highway Extension, Ochs Highway Extension and South Forrest Avenue: Ochs Highway to Scenic Highway, Scenic Highway: Forrest Avenue to Cummings Highway, and Cummings Highway: Scenic Highway to Broad Street.  On-street parking will be prohibited on these streets from Sunday, at 6 p.m. until Monday, at 6 p.m.

Visit the Transportation Department’s website at http://www.chattanooga.gov/transportation/transportation-resources for alternative route maps to use to be part of this national event or to get wherever you need to be.  Parking lots around the perimeter of the event are marked on the maps and the public is encouraged to walk, bike, and use the Chattanooga Bicycle Transit System (Free for one-hour trips on May 25 & 26) downtown.  A free CARTA bus shuttle will run from parking lots of Finley Stadium (1826 Carter Street, Chattanooga, TN 37408) up and down Lookout Mountain with stops at the Incline, Rock City, Ruby Falls, and race activity locations.
