Tennessee Wesleyan To Host 2nd Annual International Day

  • Monday, March 16, 2015

Tennessee Wesleyan College will host its second annual International Day celebration on Wednesday, March 25. The event is held each year to showcase international diversity and to spread awareness and respect for diversity throughout the campus and the Athens community.

This year’s event will feature a cultural exhibition, a fashion show, and international cuisine.

The cultural exhibition will feature artifacts and historical information countries including Togo, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Congo, Romania, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Colombia, Canada, Brazil, Japan, China, India, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and more. The exhibition will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Glenn Lowe Dining Room in the Sherman Fine Arts Building. At noon in the Sherman dining hall, students, faculty and staff will present a cultural celebration featuring traditional national clothing and music. Music will be provided by the African Connection Group from Cleveland.

“Tennessee Wesleyan College is a part of a global community, and we want to make an awareness of that,” Dr. Augustin Bocco, TWC International Studies Coordinator, said. “The college has many international students and faculty members, and we hope that events like TWC International Day will make them feel accepted, honored and celebrated within the TWC community.”

TWC’s International Day celebrates the cultural diversity of the students, faculty and staff. The event is hosted by the International Student Services, Academic Affairs and Student Life offices. For more information on International Day, please contact Dr. Augustin Bocco, International Studies Coordinator, at (423) 746-5324 or abocco@twcnet.edu. Admission to all International Day events is open to all TWC students, faculty and staff, as well as to the general public.
