Val Jean Breedlove Berry, of Chattanooga, died on October 21, 2020, at her home with family present.
 
Val Jean was born on May 11, 1932, in Chattanooga. Val Jean loved reminiscing about her high school basketball days and her love of drawing. Her love of cooking guided her through the restaurants that she had owned, Vals Tifitonian and The Drake Restaurant with her husband Bill. She and Bill enjoyed their many adventures in business and travels. She always said “ Each day with Bill she never knew what they would get into but it was never dull!“

Val Jean was a devout Catholic in faith and practice. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 53 years, William L Berry “Bill” Sr., parents, John and Maude Breedlove, sister, Patsy Kemp, brothers, John, Jimmy and Donald Breedlove.

Family members who survived her include son, Pat Clarkson (Eugenia); Bill Berry Jr. (Rosa); daughter, DeAngela Tinker; daughter, Lynn Roe (Jack); and son, Jack Berry (Kary). She was a proud grandmother who always had a full candy drawer for her 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Monday, Oct. 26, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road.

Graveside services will be on Monday, at 1:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Father Mike Nolan officiating. 

Family requests that donations to be made to O.L.P.H. School in lieu of flowers.
