William A. Doyle, 90, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on April 17, 2026.

He was born on Feb. 23, 1936, in Camden, N.J., to the late William A. Doyle, Jr. and Hannah Stevens Doyle.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who loved learning and amusing others with his sense of humor. He had a deep appreciation for folk music of all sorts, but he especially loved bluegrass music and playing banjo with his friends. He worked 39 years as an electrical engineer for the Tennessee Valley Authority, and was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve. A longtime member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Chattanooga, he enjoyed teaching Sunday School and driving the church bus, and volunteering as an Assistant Scoutmaster. He also enjoyed traveling, with memorable trips across the US and to Israel, Ukraine, and Guam.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Doyle; his children, Sarah Andrews (Trevor), William Doyle IV (Allison), and Ken Doyle (Lindsay); and his cherished grandchildren, Liam Andrews and Rory Doyle. He is also survived by his siblings, Richard Doyle (Judy) and Mary Jane Schaefer (Charlie), along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Doyle, Jr. and Hannah Stevens Doyle.

He will be remembered with love by his family and friends for his sense of humor, intelligence, and kindness.
