Dennis Lamar Bales, 69, of Harrison, passed away at his home on October 2, 2020, due to stage four laryngeal cancer. He managed his illness with strength and hope. He spent his final days surrounded by his family.

Dennis retired from Hamilton County Department of Education.
He enjoyed working on his farm, being outdoors, camping, listening to blue grass music and spending time with his family and his nine grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Bales, Sr. and Stella Bales; brother, Pat Bales; and brother-in-law, Harry West.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, June Bales; son, Dennis (Brandie) Bales, Jr.; daughters, Sadina (Todd) Smalley, Trina (Jerry) Runyan, Geneva (Lee) Boggess and Georgette Bales; brothers, Rodney (Marrilyn) Bales, Gary (Judy) Bales and Joe (Rachel) Bales, Jr.; sisters, Shirley (Barry) Patterson, Glenda (Joe) Meadows and Yvonne West.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 6 from 3-5 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home. A celebration of life will begin at 5 p.m. in the chapel, with Pastor Fred Browning officiating. 
Pallbearers will be Dennis Bales III, Tyler Smalley, Justin Bales, Ethan Patrick, Frank Friddell, Justin Leach, Derek Howard, Michael Friddell and Nick Friddell.
