Alfred Scott Phillips, age 67, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021.

He was born Aug. 12, 1953 to the late Benjamin and Hortense Moore Phillips, Sr. He was a member of Mountain Ridge Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed playing and caring for dogs and watching baseball. He loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children.

He is preceded by his parents and sister, Norma Sue Moore Fields.

He is survived by his loving family, sisters, Sandra (Jimmy) Tibbs and Patricia (Wallace) Hall; brothers, Minister Benjamin (Barbara) Phillips, Jr., Horace (Eddie Mae) Moore, and Kenneth Bruce Phillips; aunts, Rebecca Moore, Martha Jones, and Myra (Matthew) Lawrence; loving and devoted friend, Rebecca Beck; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Following the guidelines of COVID-19, the family is enforcing that all attendees wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Funeral service will be Sunday, March 7, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Willis Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Jones as eulogist.

He will lie in state Saturday, March 6, after 12 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Interment will be at Fairground Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc.
