Jake Major had a goal and two assists and the Covenant men's soccer team scored three first-half goals en route to a 4-0 win over Huntingdon in a USA South West Division Tournament first round match at Scotland Yard on Saturday afternoon.

The No. 1 seeded Covenant (6-2) advances to the championship match on Saturday, April 10 against the winner of Piedmont-Brevard. The Scots will host the match at Scotland Yard.

After an evenly-played first 10 minutes of action, Covenant dominated the match the rest of the way.

Major scored the eventual game-winner in the 16th minute as he put away a cross from Austin Berry to give the Scots a 1-0 lead.
The goal was Major's third of the season.

Major and Berry connected again in the 23rd minute, this time in reverse as Major played the ball wide to Berry who then finished from the left side of the box to make it a 2-0 score. It was Berry's second score of the season.

Mercer Stout capped the flurry of first-half goals for the Scots in the 33rd minute. Stout cleaned up a cross from Keegan Weekley from short range as the attempt banged off the crossbar and into the back of the net.

The goal was Stout's team-leading fourth of the season.

The Scots tacked on another score just 50 seconds into the second half as Weekley scored from the top of the box after Major fed him a pass. The goal was Weekley's second of the year.

Covenant ended the match with a 26-5 advantage in shots, and a 10-2 margin in shots on goal. Stout took six attempts for the Scots, while Berry had five.

Henry Hooks notched his second shutout of the season as he made two saves in 90 minutes. Huntingdon (4-4) keeper Zack Moenter made five saves in the loss.

The win for Covenant was the second over Huntingdon this season at Scotland Yard after the Scots notched a 3-1 victory on March 6 in regular season play. Covenant is 16-2-1 all-time against Huntingdon.
