Group That Features "Cocaine Bear" To Appear At Barrelhouse Ballroom

  • Tuesday, February 7, 2023

Americana band YARN will perform at Barrelhouse Ballroom on Thursday, Feb. 16, to support the tongue-in-cheek 70's style country ballad “Cocaine Bear” (LISTEN) out 2/24.

Inspired by the unbelievable but true story from a 1985 New York Times article about a bear that was found dead near a cargo of cocaine that went down near the Tennessee/Georgia border, it has become one of Yarn’s most requested songs at their live shows.

About two years ago, fans started sending articles about a movie being made called, “Cocaine Bear”. Perfect opportunity for this quirky tune. After calls and emails to the producers, they passed, and the song will not be in the movie. But, the group already had a studio session booked in Jersey to continue working on Yarn’s next two studio releases, so it was decided to start the day with the first studio recording of Yarn’s original song “Cocaine Bear.”
