Jerome Benjamin Lindsey, 52, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in a local hospital.

He attended and graduated from Kirkman Technical High School, where he was one of the star athletes. His love for cars from a young age lead him into car sales where he sold many vehicles. Jerome owned and ran multiple businesses such as, the “Black Skillet Restaurant” and the “Black Skillet Sports Bar & Grill”. Later, he continued his education attending college at Chattanooga State where he acquired his CDL’s.

Jerome was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Benjamin; mother, Mary Jean Lindsey; stepmother, Hester Ann Moore; and uncle, William “Sarge” Birdsong.

Survivors include his three sons, Jerome “Lil Jay” Lindsey, Jeremy “Jaye” Williams, and Jered “Fatt Daddy” Lindsey; stepbrothers, Charles Moore, Michael Moore, and Fitzgerald Moore; stepsisters, Deborah Ragland, Audrey Williams, and Terry Moore, all of Chattanooga; a host of cousins; other relatives and close friends.

Jerome will lie in state on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 5 p.m. in the chapel.
