Marlene Nasseff Jabaley
Marlene Nasseff Jabaley, 90, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2024.
Marlene was born in St. Paul, Mn., on Aug. 29, 1933, to Michael and Mary Coury Nasseff. She first met her husband, Charles (Bo) Jabaley, while visiting her cousin and lifelong friend, Ray Joseph, in Copperhill, Tn. Her marriage to Bo brought her to the South where they started their family and welcomed five children in just under five years. While raising her own family, she quietly provided for children in need in the rural community in which they first lived. Marlene continued to give back as a volunteer at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School, Ladies of Charity, and later at Memorial Hospital. She was an avid baseball fan, always cheering for her Cincinnati Reds, and enjoyed traveling near and far as she was able to worship at many of the great cathedrals of the world. Marlene loved her family above everything and had an open door to everyone. She was a second mom to many and is fondly remembered for her homecooked meals and hospitality.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two beloved sons, Charles Jabaley and James Jabaley.
Marlene is survived by three children, Charlene (Jack) Martin, Gerard (Jill) Jabaley, and David (Regina) Jabaley; ten grandchildren, Corrie (Michael) Large, James Jabaley, Jr., Laura Martin, Chip (Catie) Jabaley, Elizabeth (Anthony Reyna) Jabaley, Charles Jabaley, Ella Jabaley, Sydney Jabaley, Jacqueline Jabaley, and Mary Jeanine Jabaley; and three great-grandchildren, James, Charlotte, and Annie Large. She is also survived by her siblings, Adele Mansur, Margaret Smith, Joe Nasseff, Peter (Ruth) Nasseff, and Mary Ann (Tom) Goebel, as well as many nieces and nephews.
