The Georgia Cheerleading Coaches Association announced two achievements by cheerleaders from Ridgeland High School. Katie Carroll and Avery Thomas have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to the sport, with Avery Thomas being named Cheerleader of the Year for the A-AAA division and both athletes earning spots on the Top 16 All-State Cheerleading Team for the 2024 season.
Avery has been honored with the title of Cheerleader of the Year for A-AAA, a recognition that underscores her academic success, remarkable skills, leadership, community involvement, and dedication throughout the cheerleading season. This accolade celebrates her individual excellence and highlights the exceptional caliber of the cheerleading program at Ridgeland High School, said officials.
"Avery’s commitment to cheerleading is nothing short of inspiring," said Coach Abby Manus Bates, head coach of Ridgeland High School. "Her leadership, hard work, and passion have set a new standard for excellence, and this award is a well-deserved testament to her outstanding achievements."
In addition to Avery’s individual recognition, both Katie Carroll and Avery Thomas have been named to the Top 16 All-State Cheerleading Team. This honor is awarded to the top cheerleaders across Georgia and reflects their exceptional performance, grade point average, community service, and dedication.
"Katie and Avery’s selection to the Top 16 All-State Cheerleading Team is a historic accomplishment for the Panther Cheerleading Program," said Coach Abby Manus Bates. "Their talent and dedication have been instrumental in our success in the past and will continue this season, and we are thrilled to see their hard work acknowledged at this level."
