The Cohutta Song Fest will offer a songwriting workshop on Saturday, Oct. 19 in a small group setting in Northwest Georgia. This four hour workshop, to be taught by songwriters Becky Buller and Ed Snodderly, is designed to help hone songwriting skills by focusing on lyric writing, music theory and arranging.

Officials said, "What you will discover in this workshop is that the inspiration drawn from the class is vitally important, but it’s only half the story. The other part is spending most of the day totally immersed in songwriting with other likeminded folks.
Friendships are formed that last well beyond the workshop, and collaborations bring forth songs that never would have happened otherwise."

The fee of $65 will include the workshop, full admission to the Cohutta Song Fest evening concert and participation in an open stage.

About the instructors:
A 10-time IBMA Award winner, Becky Buller has written songs for three Grammy award-winning albums and had had her songs recorded by The Infamous Stringdusters’ Laws of Gravity (2018 Best Bluegrass Grammy), “The Shaker” on The Travelin’ McCourys self-titled release (2019 Best Bluegrass Grammy) and “Good-bye Girl” on Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway’s Crooked Tree album (2023 Best Bluegrass Grammy). Her compositions can also be heard on records by Ricky Skaggs, Rhonda Vincent and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver and many others.

Ed Snodderly co-founded the now iconic music venue, The Down Home Coffee House and Pickin’ Parlor in Johnson, Tn. Since his 1977 debut album, Sidewalk Shoes, Mr. Snodderly has released LPs on Sugar Hill and other prestigious roots-oriented labels. In addition to his solo work, he also recorded and performed as the Brother Boys with duet partner Eugene Wolf. Songs that he’s written have been covered by Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, John Cowan, Missy Raines and others, and in 2000, he played a minor role (credited as “Village Idiot”) in the Coen Brothers’ film, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Since 1992 he has been teaching songwriting classes in the Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music Studies program at East Tennessee State University.
