Patsy Card Irwin, 87, passed away at home on January 21, 2025.

She was a 1955 graduate of Soddy Daisy High School. She was employed by Dupont for 12 years (1959-1971). She left Dupont for a job with the Hamilton County Department of Education so she could spend more time with her family. She was the secretary at Soddy Elementary School for 32 years (1971-2003). She was an active member of the Soddy United Methodist Church, throughout her life she served as a Sunday School Teacher, United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYE) Co-Youth Director, Children’s Choir Director and she served many years as President of the United Methodist Women (UMW).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Noel R. Irwin; her grandparents, John C. and Lottie Thatcher, James S. Card and Mena F. Card; her parents, William J. Card and Louise Thatcher Card; brothers, William S. “Bill” Card and Warren Thatcher Card and a niece, Patty Card Cagle.

Patsy is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Johnny) Wood; grandchildren, John Tyler (Aerielle) Wood and Jordan (fiancé Natalie) Wood; great-grandson, Emerson Wood along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to LuAnn McCuiston, Phyllis Williams, Soddy Daisy Health Care, Hearth Hospice (Maggie, Teresa, Kelly and Kelley) for all of the care and assistance they provided during her illness.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home. Services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Soddy United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Varner Cemetery.
