Lee University School of Music will present its annual Masterworks concert, “A Night in Vienna” on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center. The concert will feature Lee University’s Choral Union, Chorale, and Symphony Orchestra.
The performance will showcase works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Anton Bruckner, Johannes Brahms, and Franz Schubert.
The concert will also feature special performances by Lily Allen, alto and senior music major; Ron Brendel, tenor, director of graduate studies in music, and professor of voice; Lenena Brezna, soprano and associate professor of voice; Vanessa Wei, pianist and assistant professor of piano; and Ryan Wheeler, bass and senior music major.
Choral Union, directed by Assistant Professor Dr. Cameron Weatherford, is an ensemble consisting of both music and non-music majors that performs choral music and major masterworks for mixed chorus and orchestra. The ensemble will be accompanied by Brandon Wilcox, collaborative pianist.
The Symphony Orchestra, directed by Artist in Residence Dr. Régulo Stabilito, is an ensemble of select instrumentalists and performs a wide variety of orchestral literature. Its musicians frequently participate in other concerts on the campus, as well as present one major concert each semester.
Dr. William Green, dean of the Lee University School of Music, conducts Chorale, an ensemble of select vocalists that emphasizes the diversity and breadth of traditional choral literature, presenting both traditional choral music and works by modern composers. The ensemble will be accompanied by Amy Wu, collaborative pianist.
The concert is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public. Livestream viewing will be available at leeu.live.
