Paul Morrell McAmis, 77, a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, died on Sunday, February 24, 2008.

He was the son of the late George and Mae McAmis. He attended Tennessee Wesleyan in Athens, Tennessee and TPI University. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a retired Air Traffic Controller at Chattanooga Lovell Field. He also worked for Glidden Paints in Cleveland, for 11 years.

He was a former member of Central Baptist Church, Woodmore and most recently an active member of Ridgedale Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances Jenkins McAmis of Chattanooga; two daughters, Cindy Williams and her husband Jimmy of Trussville, Al., and Patti Clowdus and her husband Ricky of Ringgold; three grandchildren, Hayden Williams, Hunter and Hailey Clowdus; sister, Evelyn Sproule of Kingston, Tn.; two nephews, William Sproule, of Birmingham; and Tony Sproule, of Kingston.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Owens officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday School Class of Ridgedale Baptist Church. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 4-7 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
