CCS Rallies To Beat District Rival Sequatchie County 32-28

The Chattanooga Christian School football team earned a key district win Friday night, rallying to beat Sequatchie County 32-28.

CCS senior quarterback Zach Mercer threw for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to earn the win. 

Sequatchie took a 14-0 lead after a blocked punt in the endzone that was recovered by Deagan Marshall.  

CCS freshman T.J. Smith returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards to give CCS their first touchdown of the night.

Adam Pickett gave Sequatchie at 21-7 lead on a 31 yard run in the second quarter.  CCS answered with a 34 yard field goal by Will Patton before the halftime break. 

CCS opened the scoring in the second half with a Zach Mercer touchdown pass to Justin Wheeler, cutting the lead to 21-17. 

 Sequatchie would stretch their lead to 28-17 on a Dolby Reed 17 yard pass to Brad Thompson.  

CCS's final two scores came in the fourth quarter..  Mercer hit Will Patton for a 20 yard touchdown with 6:49 left in the game and then found Brandon Mason for a one yard score with 24 seconds left in the game. 

CCS was able to stop Sequatchie on their final drive to earn the win. 

Sequatchie County managed 323 rushing yards led by Adam Pickett's 122 yards on nine carries.  Brandon Rudd had 81 yards on 11 carries and quarterback Dolby Reed had 66 yards on 15 carries. 

CCS was led by Brandon Mason who rushed for 81 yards on 13 carries. 

Zach Mercer was 12 of 22 for 161 yards passing.  

CCS hosts White County next week and Sequatchie will host Marion County.
