Showcasing success both on the course and in the classroom the 10th-ranked Lee men's golf team was named a Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-Academic Team for the fifth straight season under head coach John Maupin in 2016-17.

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year and must have a 3.00 or higher cumulative team GPA.

"I'm very proud of the year our guys had in the classroom," said Maupin.
"More than any other season it was a very good effort from top to bottom and a strong majority of the team played a big role in helping us gain this recognition.  We strive to be a well-balanced program, and I think this marks the fifth straight year that our guys have achieved Team Academic status—it's something we always strive to accomplish."

The balanced program was ranked in the top 10 all season long, won two tournaments, finished second at the Gulf South Conference Championship and qualified for NCAA South/Southeast Super Regional play for the second straight season all while maintaining excellence in the classroom.
