Sherry Montgomery Waites began her earthly life on February 19, 1951 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was the fifth child of nine children born to the union of James and Jessie Bell Montgomery.  She departed this earthly life to live her heavenly life on Monday, March 16, 2020, in Douglasville, Ga.

She became a member of Word of Faith Church in Douglasville Georgia. She was a graduate of Howard High School, class of 1970.  She was previously employed at Erlanger Medical Center and Family Health Services with Dr. Thomas Brooks, in Chattanooga and Peachtree Women’s Clinic in Atlanta Georgia where she retired in 2016.

She was united in matrimony to Harold Waites on August 3, 1986.  Sherry loved her family and many friends.  She seldom met a stranger as she knew everybody.  She was a wonderful cook, loved traveling, shopping, decorating, and taking cruises and vacations with her husband.  She was a sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, auntie, cousin, friend and most of all, a child of God. She will be dearly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jessie Bell Montgomery; brother, Willie Montgomery; sisters, Brenda Fuller and Adelle Thomas; grandson, Jamaul Waites;

She is survived by her husband, Harold Waites, daughter, Yolanda (Kenneth) Waites of Jacksonville Florida; sons, Kevin (Tammy) Waites and Bobby (Lisa) Waites of Douglasville Georgia; grandchildren, April Waites, Bobby Waites, Jr., Colby Waites, Kevin Waites Jr. , Kaylan Waites, and Keenea Jackson; great grandchildren, Kadence, Nico, Karter and Kash; brothers, Orlando (Christy) Montgomery, Charleston Montgomery of Chattanooga Tennessee; sisters, Mary Maddox of Chattanooga; Jerline (Mack) McAllum, Constance (Michael) Hayes of Jacksonville Florida; cousins, Terry (Linda) Moore and Pauline Montgomery; brothers-in-law, Tana (Linda) Walker and Gregory Walker of Chattanooga and  Melvin (Brenda), Keith (Tonya), Rodney (Donna) of Detroit Michigan; sisters-in-law, Beverly (Paul) Chase of Ringgold Georgia, Taina Walker of Chattanooga and Charlene Waites of Detroit Michigan and Caroline Kirby of Chattanooga Tennessee; nieces and nephews, Renae, Yvette, Stephanie, Renita, Traci, Tara, Tiwiona, Edrisa, Orlando Jr., Derrick, Katherine, Christine, Charles, Malcolm, Tramale, Krissy, Maria, Chapalle, Paula, Paul, Herbert, Tenea, Janelle, Melvin Jr., Tana Jr. , Kiamesha, Michelle, Adrian, Tameka, Eartha, and Denise; friends she holds dear to her heart, Linda (Charles) Roberts, Patricia Leatherwood, Isaac (Pat) Washington, Deena Turner-Taylor, Harold Davenport, Milton Poole, The Neely Family, Charles Stoudemire, Colleen Canion, Latrina Brumfield and Lynette Robinson.

Public viewing will begin at 12-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 22.
