Dr. Gregory Nathaniel Roark, 38, of Georgetown, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2021.  After Greg’s five-year battle with leukemia and lymphoma, God’s Army came to take him home.  

 

Greg graduated from Chattanooga Central High School in 2001 in the top 10 percent of his class, and then graduated from Mercer University in 2008 with a Doctorate in Pharmacy.  He always had a love for sports, especially baseball and football.  Greg was an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves, Tennessee Volunteers, and Jacksonville Jaguars.  He also enjoyed watching all kinds of car races with his Dad.  He was an amazing uncle to Bo and Bennett.  They loved going to Braves and Lookouts games, playing video games and playing back yard baseball together.  Greg also loved spending time with his German shepherd, Hercules.  Greg was a member of Morris Hill Baptist Church. 

 

Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wallace and Evelyn Roark, Ray and Mittie Stanfill; uncle, Jerry Stanfill.

 

He is survived by his parents, Gene and Mary Hope Roark; sister and brother-in-law, Ashley and Reed Atchley; nephews, Bo and Bennett Atchley; aunts and uncles, Faye and Willis Goforth, Faith and Bruce Baird, Gary and Donna Stanfill, Don Stanfill, Terry and Mitzie Stanfill, Harry and Tammy Stanfill; cousins, Lauren Baird, Tyler (Callie) Goforth, Kenny (Andrea) Goforth, Yvonne (Matt) Hanak, Michelle Brooks, Christina (Joe) Palecki, Mandy Brooks; great aunt, Sue R. Davis. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Educational Society, 4155 Randolph Circle, Chattanooga, Tn. 37406 or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, donate.lls.org. 

 

The family would like to thank the Stem Cell Team at Vanderbilt Hospital for all their love, care, and support during this time.

 

Everyone in attendance at the funeral on Tuesday, June 8, at 12 p.m. are encouraged to dress casual and wear a shirt or jersey of one of Greg’s favorite teams. Pastor Bill Mason will be officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Reed Atchley, Bruce Baird, Willis Goforth, Tyler Goforth, Jonathan Mason, Jacob Jarvis, Josh Jarvis, and Gary Stanfill. Honorary Pallbearers will be his nephews, Bo and Bennett Atchley.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 7, from 4-7 p.m. and an hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
