Erlanger Names Dr. Jensen Hyde As 1st Female Chief Medical Officer

Erlanger announces the appointment of Dr. Jensen Hyde as chief medical officer for the health system. 

"With an extensive background in medicine, exemplary leadership skills and a proven track record of enhancing healthcare practices, Dr. Hyde is poised to lead the organization into a new era of transformative healthcare," officials said. 

She is the first female CMO to lead the 130-year-old health system.

"As CMO, Dr. Hyde will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of Erlanger and ensuring that the highest standards of medical care are maintained across the health system," officials said.
"With a deep understanding of the ever-evolving healthcare landscape, she will collaborate with our talented team of physicians, nurses and healthcare professionals to drive innovation, foster a culture of continuous learning and further elevate patient outcomes."

Throughout her tenure with Erlanger, Dr. Hyde has demonstrated a deep commitment to patient care, and we are thrilled to have her take on this pivotal leadership position.” 

Previously, Dr. Hyde served as chief medical quality officer for Erlanger Medical Group and as a hospitalist at Erlanger. Dr. Hyde also holds assistant professor appointments with UTHSC for the Department of Internal Medicine, including associate program director. She has served on multiple committees, including Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Medication Safety, and Internal Medicine Program Evaluation, to name a few.

Dr. Hyde, a board-certified internal medicine physician, earned her medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2014. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at UTHSC Chattanooga before earning a master of public health from Columbia University in 2020. She has earned several awards, including “Distinguished Women in Medicine" and "Top Doctor in Internal Medicine” by Top Doctors and Resident of the Year at UTHSC Chattanooga for 2016. Dr. Hyde has also been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals.
