Richard Lee Bratton, 76 of Ooltewah, Tennessee, died on Saturday, December 28, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Chattanooga, to the late Henry Ralph Bratton and Bertha Mae Brady. Richard attended Brainerd High School before joining the U.S. Marine Corps in 1966. While serving in the military during the Vietnam Campaign, he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Good conduct Medal.

After his time with the U.S. Marine Corps, Richard went to work for the United States Postal Service (USPS) and spent 15 years at the Shallowford Road location. He loved to go hunting and fishing in his spare time.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Paulette Bratton in March of 2020.

Survivors include his children, Tammy (Kevin) Cross, Richard (Tami) Bratton, Jr. and Randy (Jeannie) Bratton; grandchildren, U.S. Air Force Sgt. Richard Lee (Miko) Bratton, III, Luke (Courtney) Loy, Andrew (Ragan) Bratton, Lacey Loy and Jordan Butler and his fiancée, Emily; great-grandchildren, Thomas Bratton, Waylon Bratton, Willow Rose Bratton, and Stetson Rhett Bratton; brothers, Butch Bratton and Don Bratton.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, at the funeral home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Marine Corps.
