Fay Bynum, 80, passed away on July 21, 2024.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Fay grew up in Birmingham, Al., where she met and married her husband, Julian, of over 60 years.

As a Girl Scout leader for many years, she was a very positive influence on young women. Fay was best known, however, for her infectious smile and bubbly personality.

After raising a family, Fay found her true calling when she earned a degree in nursing, and began a successful 20-year career in health care in both Chattanooga and Huntsville, Al. In retirement, Fay explored her love for travel which included many cruises as well as full-time RV living, traveling all over the U.S. and Canada.

Survivors include her husband Julian, daughter Amy (Joe) Griffin, son Gary, and grandsons Brian (Amanda) Russell and Matthew (Marina) Russell.

The family would like to express their appreciation to The Lantern at Morning Pointe and Hearth Hospice for their compassion and care shown to Fay.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 8645 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421, or to the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 1 p.m.
