Applications are now being accepted for Future Docs, a leadership program of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society and UT Health Science Center Chattanooga, specifically designed for high school graduates and college students interested in pursuing a career in medicine.

The Future Docs Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine gives students a behind-the-scenes look at a career in medicine. The program is designed to:
• Provide students the opportunity to learn more about life as a physician and inspire them to pursue a career in medicine;
• Provide students and local physicians with a community-based mentoring/teaching experience; and
• Assist with efforts to increase the pipeline of health care providers in Southeastern Tennessee.

“This program is a great way to educate students on the realities of medicine,” said Mark Brzezienski, MD, past president of the Medical Society and Medical Foundation.
“We aim to inspire these talented young people to pursue a career in the field.”

Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine will take place June 9-12.

The Youth Leadership Forum in Medicine is a one-week program designed to encourage rising high school seniors and 2025 high school graduates to consider careers in medicine.  During the course of the week, students will learn about careers in medicine, job shadow health care professionals who practice in several areas of medicine, and enjoy hands-on learning simulations and potentially shadowing experiences.

Deadline to apply is April 25.

Medical Explorations will take place July 22-21.

Medical Explorations is designed for future professionals pursuing a career in healthcare. The two-week program offers undergraduate college students the opportunity to observe physicians and gain an insight in the practice of medicine. Students must complete an application along with three essays and two recommendations which can be from a professor, academic advisor or other individual who is familiar with the student’s educational background and interests.

Deadline to apply is May 28.
