Food City announces the replacement of its current store at 4510 TN-58 Hwy. 58 in Chattanooga. CEO Steven Smith said that it would be more cost effective for the future if the existing store was replaced with a new, state of the art building that would support their existing brands, including a gas station, new deli and pharmacy. The new build is part of Food City’s ongoing commitment to better serve local communities and provide quality service, officials said.
In a recent community engagement event facilitated by Land Development Senior Ombudsman Dallas Rucker and ECE Neighborhood Services Specialist Marcie Keith Tolliver, Food City CEO Steven Smith addressed local neighborhood associations.
“We’re thrilled to bring this to the residents of Hwy 58 and the Hills. Hearing you say that this is your store makes our commitment to serving your neighborhood even more important.” said Mr. Smith. “At Food City, we are not just about providing groceries—we are about building lasting relationships with the communities we serve."
Officials said, "Local citizens had the opportunity to voice their concerns and ask questions during the session. Mr. Smith noted that the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with very few concerns raised. Most questions centered around the store’s impact on traffic patterns and environmental considerations, both of which have been carefully addressed in the planning stages. The company reassured residents that the store's development follows all necessary regulations to minimize disruptions to the area."
The grand opening of the new store is slated for October, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and special promotions to celebrate the occasion. Food City invites all community members to attend the opening and explore the new store when completed.
