Bradley Central Wins 10-2 Over Whitwell In Regular Season Finale

 Wrapping up the regular season, Bradley Central posted a "run-rule" victory over visiting Whitwell, Tuesday at Bob McKenzie Field.

Breaking open a close game, the softball Bearettes put up a half dozen runs in the bottom of the fifth frame and tacked on three more in the sixth to end the game early with a 10-2 victory.

After Bradley starter Kaylee Callahan notched strikeout for the first four Whitwell outs, the Lady Tigers (5-16) were able to put a run on the board with a solo score in the top of the second inning.

The Bearettes didn't even the score until the bottom of the fourth, while the visitors answered to pull back ahead with a score in the top of the fifth.

Finally breaking through against Whitewell starter Jasie Willis, the Bradley bats exploded in the bottom of the frame, sending six baserunners all the way around the sacks.

Knocking out a total of 14 hits, the Bearettes were able to finish off the game with three more complete circuits in the sixth frame.

Leading the attack, sophomore Presleigh Sanders and freshman Khloe Farkas both drove in four teammates.
Sanders went 3-for-4 at the dish, including a double, plus she scored a run. Farkas also had a two-bagger in her two hits and complete the circle once.

Sophomore leadoff My'Ryah Greenwood got on base three times with a pair of doubles and a walk, scoring each time.

Junior Tori Cagle helped out with a single, a two-base knock and drew a base on balls before scoring three times as well.

Senior Olivia Kerr has s hit, drove in a run and scored, while classmate and Bryan College signee Lynlee Hodge stroked a single and made her way around the bases.

Callahan tossed the first four innings, striking out eight and giving up just one hit, but the junior handed out seven free passes.

Greenwood went to the rubber for the final two innings, picking up the victory with four Ks, no "freebies" and only two hits, plus an unearned run.
  
Whitwell managed just three hits, including two from by Willis and one from Ella Grace Harvey. Both Lady Tigers stroke doubles in the contest, with Willis driving in a run.
