Mae Lizzie Bell-Woods, 78, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Hospice Care Center.

She was born March 17, 1947, to Cleveland Bell, Sr. and Florine Bell. She was a graduate of Riverside High School class of 1965. Mae worked for RG Barry's, Buster Brown, and NK Lawn and Garden for many years. She was a member of Eastern Star organization. Mrs. Woods was a phenomenal wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Mae was a devout Christian who actively walked in her faith by living it. She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church for many years and attended New Covenant Fellowship Church with her kids as well.

Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Woods Sr. of 50 years of marriage; her son, Alvin Woods (twin); her parents, Cleveland Bell, Sr. and Florine Bell; sisters, Patricia Williams, Idella Davis, and Sandra Bell-Rice; brothers, Gilray L. Gates, Sr., Charlie Bell, Cleveland Bell, and Edward Gates.

Survivors include her children, Yohunnah (Billy) Moton, Calvin (Reinza) Woods, Jr., Yoshunnah (Emmanuel) Obazenu, and Pashunnda Woods; sister, Vashti McDonald; brothers, John Bell and Leroy (Sharon) Bell; grandkids, Marshae Burton, Ashlee Woods, Asharia Woods, and Aja Hairston; honorary granddaughter, Precious Ellison; great-grandkids, Jumonie Shepphard and Armonie Woods; and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives, beloved best friend, Susie Petty; and many other friends. Special honor to Mrs. Sandra Haskins and Tricia Davis, great niece, who assisted Mrs. Mae in her final days on earth.

Mae will lie-in-state on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at New Covenant Fellowship Church. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, Inc.
