Catoosa County Public Schools’ third annual coupon book sale began Thursday, and school system officials are hoping to raise another six figures to help fund technology for local classrooms.

“The coupon book sale has been a very successful fundraiser for the last two years. In addition to buying new computers, our schools will use this money to purchase interactive whiteboards and projectors,” said School Superintendent Denia Reese. “Students are much more engaged in learning when teachers can incorporate technology with instruction.

Our goal is to place an interactive whiteboard in every classroom, and the coupon book sale is helping us reach that goal.”

Northwest Georgia Bank is the presenting sponsor for the third consecutive year, donating overall more than $20,000 to support the fundraiser that has earned more than $240,000 so far for the Catoosa school system.

"For 105 years, we have helped the Catoosa school system provide an excellent education for our children," said Wes Smith, chairman & CEO, Northwest Georgia Bank. "Continuing that support, especially to help raise money to fund more technology for our students and teachers, was an easy decision, even in this tough economy. This is not a time to let the saw grow dull."

Other businesses supporting the fundraiser include Winner’s Circle, Sir Gooney’s, The Catoosa Teachers Federal Credit Union, Abuelo’s and Best Buy.

“We believe our communities see the value of spending $20 to help our students compete better in a global, technology-driven marketplace, especially when they can save more than $3,000 if they use the coupons,” said Superintendent Reese. “We appreciate every person who purchases a book to support our schools.”

Coupon books can be purchased in every Catoosa County school until Sept. 10. For a list of merchants supplying coupons, visit the Catoosa County Public Schools website at www.catoosa.k12.ga.us.
