Merlin Hurst
Merlin Dean Hurst, 83, of Hixson, Tennessee, died on Monday, December 5, 2011.
Dean was born in Clarinda, Ia., and had been a resident of the Hixson area for the past 41 years. He was a retired brakeman for CB&Q Railroad and a retired pricing executive with Kayo/Conoco Oil Company.
Dean was a member of Campbell Road Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.
His wife, Susanne Hurst and daughter, Marilyn Umholtz preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughter, Cindy (Jack) Bingham of Hixson; son, Richard (Mary) Hurst of Clanton, Alabama; daughter, Vicki Bryson of East Ridge; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 7, from 6-8 p.m. at the North Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, in the North Chapel. Burial will be private.
