Keep Red Bank Traffic Cameras, Just Use Them Sensibly

  • Monday, October 1, 2012

Because of defensive driving yesterday afternoon, my car was not broadsided by a vehicle blatantly running a red light at one of the Red Bank intersections with traffic cameras.  As the offending vehicle sped through the intersection, I saw the flash of the traffic camera and was glad to know that driver would soon have to deal with the consequences of dangerous behavior.

I have heard the stories about people getting traffic camera citations from the city of Red Bank for stopping past the white line and agree that using the cameras for that purpose is ridiculous.

However, when they are used in Red Bank to deter/punish speeding and running red lights (just as they are used throughout Chattanooga), how is that a bad thing?
