Jerry Mitchell Is The Best Choice - And Response

  • Sunday, January 27, 2013

Jerry Mitchell is indeed the best choice for the District 2 representative on the City Council.  He has proven leadership that resulted in projects most of us have had the opportunity to experience.

As head of Parks and Recreation under both Mayors Jon Kinsey and Robert Corker, Jerry oversaw the programming  and upkeep of our city parks and recreation areas.  Jerry also directed a marked increase in city parkland – including Coolidge Park, the Champions Club in Lupton City, DuPont Park in Hixson, Enterprise South Natural Park and the 21st Century Waterfront.   These projects thrived mainly due to Jerry's inclusive leadership style, which engaged as many residents as possible in determining how the city could best serve recreational needs in their own neighborhoods and the city as a whole.

Jerry's commitment to citizen involvement, and his ability to listen to what people want and then work on how to best deliver it.  Jerry Mitchell will make an outstanding city councilman.

A vote for Jerry Mitchell is a vote for collaborative and visionary decision making, and I urge you to vote for Jerry.

* * *

I have known Jerry Mitchell for a number of years and I have found he is a dedicated man.  He believes in getting things done and that doing the right thing is always important.  Rare commodities in any person, and I think rarer still in a political candidate.  We need somebody like that on the Chattanooga City Council.

Jerry has experience in private industry as well as government.  I think he can help build the future of Chattanooga by concentrating on the areas that we need help in such as crime and ensuring the children in Chattanooga are educated to a world class status.  I have found him to be both bold and thoughtful.  Again, a rare combination.

I ask the voters in District 2 to vote for Jerry Mitchell for your representative to the Chattanooga City Council.
