GPS nominated four eighth graders to participate in the YMCA Youth Trust.

Emily Morrison, Caitlin O’Brien, Ellie Swann and Taryn Young, eighth grade students at Girls Preparatory School, were nominated to attend the annual YMCA Youth Trust conference to be held at Camp Ocoee.

As described by the YMCA, “Youth Trust is a leadership development program” in which students share in small groups their views about the Chattanooga community’s quality of life. The weekend at Camp Ocoee involves team building, leadership training, and discussions on potential community involvement.

Over 100 students from area schools annually participate in the event. Afterwards, the participants may continue their involvement in YMCA Trustkeepers, a yearlong student-run program that is an extension of the YMCA Leaders’ Club.
